David Vargas joined Rose Joneson Vargas in 2000 after having worked in American Samoa as an Assistant Public Defender (1995-1997) and with another private law firm.

Prior to moving to American Samoa, David was an attorney at Duke & Gerstel, a civil litigation firm in California. David also served for five years as Judge Pro Tempore in the San Diego County Municipal Court.

David is a trial attorney with an emphasis on business litigation.

David is a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps (1965-68). He is presently Junior Vice-Commander of VFW Post 3391 in American Samoa. David is the founder of the American Samoa Judo Association and has been Legal Advisor to the Oceania Judo Union since 1997. He is a member of the American Samoa Shrine Club and is is a Master Mason. He has served as a director on the boards of American Samoa Catholic Social Services, the Land Board of the Catholic Diocese of Samoa, and was formerly a member of the Executive Committee of the A.S. National Olympic Committee.
